See lions at Chocolatera (Salinas)

Chocolatera in land mass of the Ecuadorian coast is part of the peninsula Santa Elena.

Due to the water colliding with the rocks and the stirred-up sand, the chocolate colour of the whirlpool is created, hence the name Chocolatera.

The spit is home of see lions and Blue-footed Boobies.

Combine your visit of the Chocolatera with a day trip to the bathing beach in Salinas and to the market in Libertad (near the bus station). By the way: “Salinas”, the name of the city can be traced back to the salt refineries that are passed on your way to the Chocolatera.
